The garden club visited the Von Trapp Greenhouse and Display Garden near Waitsfield this summer. The garden is delightful, and they offer a large collection of perennials for our growing conditions at reasonable prices. There's an arbor just as you enter the garden, with 3-4 tables and chairs, so you can take a lunch you picked up at the Warren Country Store! Go early in the day if it's hot, as the garden is in full sun. Yes, astilbe in full sun, and they're lovely. Their display garden is featured in the July / August 2017 issue of "The American Gardener," the magazine of the American Horticultural Society. Visit their web site: http://vontrappgreenhouse.com/
And just a tip--I've photographed the garden in late July for three years--you might get better pictures if it's just a bit overcast. But it is lovely to see the garden on a sunny day).
