In early June, Ray Bisson led members of Randolph Garden Club through the wild lady slipper fens on his property. Good wet boots were needed, but we had a wonderful time! The fens contain the largest population anywhere of the rare Cypripedium reginae, forma albolabium, the white form of the showy pink lady’s slipper. Ray and Joyce (1946-2019) have willed more than half of their 74-acre East Street property to two organizations—The Nature Conservancy of Vermont and the New England Wild Flower Society. Joyce loved leading the lady slipper tours. "Oh my gosh, I kidnap people,” she once joked.
